Entry #406, 2012-09-29  17:36:42   Jeremy Crawshaw
CRAWSHAWs - Bradfield, Stannington
My name is Jeremy Crawshaw (from Sheffield) but now living ‘dahn sarf’ in Bournemouth on Dorset’s beautiful Jurassic Coast. Much as I love where I now live by the sea, one of the things that I really miss about no longer being in Sheffield is being able to visit my spiritual home of Bradfield, Stannington, Dungworth & Storrs as my family connections are all from around this area. Every time I come back home I have to make a visit to High & Low Bradfield, initially driving through Stannington, Storrs & Dungworth and then have a walk around Dam Flask to rekindle my roots then stopping off for a pint in The Plough or The Old Horns. I’m a former pupil of Bradfield Comp at Worrall and have a keen interest in the area that my family are from. I’ve been researching my family history now for over 10 years and have connections to many local surnames as well as my own CRAWSHAW name which is prominent in the Bradfield area. My other locally connected surname interests are HORSFIELD, BARBER, DRABBLE, BRAMALL, BRADWELL, MORTON, SHARP, JENKINSON, OATES, MARSHALL, WILSON, LOY & IBBOTSON + connections to many other surnames from the area. I have connections to the Sheffield Flood as the ‘William HORSFIELD’ that discovered the crack in the Dale Dyke Reservoir is a 1st Cousin 5 times removed which subsequently connects me to Malcolm Nunn at Bradfield Archives as both our HORSFIELD connections tie us both to this William HORSFIELD. Also, one of my relatives ‘John BRADWELL’ lost all the tools of his trade as a Razor Grinder when the Rowell Wheel was inundated on the Loxley. If anyone is connected to CRAWSHAW’s or any of the other surnames above I’d love to hear from you. Please see my homepage for details of my CRAWSHAW family.

Siddons, also Bagshaw and Dyson
I'm interested in pre-1837 family. I live in Bristol, so internet searching is the easiest. I sometimes visit the Bradfield Archives with a list of queries!

Bradfield's in America
I was so excited. Just knew the Bradfield areas in England had to be named for my ancestors. Only to find the area is many broad field's. There are Bradfield surnames in Bradfield aren't there? Did my family just assume the name? Any opinions on this? I will read everything I can find just in case. Gloria Bradfield

Ibbotson's of Bradfield
Hi, I have found this site to be of real interest in tracing my roots. I am an Ibbotson and 'we' I can trace several generation back to Bradfield. I am now 'stuck' on Henry Ibbotson! He was born in 1817 and married Ann Grayson (daughter of Thomas) in 1840. I can't identify Henry's father - there are so many possibilities and I can't tie him to his parents! Any help to get me back on track would be greatly appriciated.
